Book Sale Proceeds Fund a Feast of Flowers

The flower beds surrounding George Mason Library are in full bloom! These black-eyed susans, coneflowers and daylilies not only beautify the  library borders but also provide important food sources for local pollinators, butterflies, and birds.

The  GM Friends fund these beds with book sale proceeds, and dedicated volunteers keep the beds healthy and lush. If you have some gardening experience and would like to contribute a little time to tending the beds, too, please contact Mandy Neet, Volunteer Coordinator, at or call 703-813-6606.
Coneflowers are a favorite food source for bumblebees.
Later, watch for goldfinches, who will perch on the spent flowers to eat the seeds.
